PetroDEM

petrodem

PetroDEM (PETROBRAS Discrete Element Method) is an integrated system for computer simulation using the Discrete Element Method. This PETROBRAS initiative gathers expertise related to the particles method scattered in several Brazilian universities, UFAL among them through LCCV. Features The product integrates the three main steps required for the numerical simulation of problems in discontinuous media: generation of particulate media, numerical data processing and visualization of results. Problems treated The Discrete Element Method has many applications in engineering, especially in problems of discrete nature, such as fracturing, fragmentation, impact, and flow of particulate media. PetroDEM has been used in the study of many problems, especially those related to the oil exploration industry. Collaborative Portal More details about the method and computational tools that conform PetroDEM are available through http://petrodem.lccv.ufal.br.
